CATAMARAN
CLASS
Catamaran Sailors
at the the Koombana Bay Sailing Club (KBSC)
enjoy some of the best sailing conditions
in Australia. Bunbury's well protected Koombana
Bay allows catamarans to be sailed in flat
water even when the sea breeze is fresh.
KBSC has a keen group of male and female sailors of various ages, sailing both Nacra's and Windrush 14's. The club is keen to support these two classes of catamaran but would also welcome any other type of catamaran to the group. Those who don't have much experience sailing will find the group very supportive and willing to assist.
Catamaran sailors enjoy the advantages of having boats that are easy to sail, transport and rig. Boats are available cheaply and are strong, reliable and require low levels of maintenance. Families can enjoy racing and cruising at KBSC. For a very modest fee catamarans can be stored at KBSC. Next time you want to sail, you don't need to spend time rigging up, you just role the catamaran to the beach.
Catamarans don't require large crews and are usually sailed one or two up. Racing is usually done in one of three ways. Cat Rigged using Mainsail only with Skipper only or Sloop Rigged using Mainsail and jib with Skipper and one crew or Super Sloop using Mainsail and jib with Skipper only and trapeze.
