Due to the possibility of debris in the water, there is a new speed limit
of 8 knots for the whole of Koombana Bay. You can find the press release here:
http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/aboutus/21531.asp At the moment this limit applies
to ALL CRAFT in Koombana Bay
2. Busy Bee
There is a Busy Bee planned for the 9th of October. The major project on the
list is to complete another section of the ramp and the tides will be reasonably
favourable for this endeavour. More details will follow, but please mark the
date in your diary now so as many as possible will be available on the day.
We also require people over the next couple of weeks to help rub down the
rescue boat prior to it's rejuvenation. If you can help email newsletter@kbsc.net.au
or contact Gaye in the office.
3. Rescue Boat Course
YAWA is running a rescue boat course soon and expressions of interest are

5. Footy Tipping
Round 20
A great Round for many of our Tipsters with some moves starting to be made on the Leaders after both the Western Australian teams went down. The Pies showed the Bombers no quarter and the Blues gave the Richmond Tigers the same treatment. The Eagles showed promise with a sterling fight back against the Port Power but too little early left them with a late battle on their hands, the Dockers on the other hand were no match for a rejuvenated Sydney Swans.
In other games Geelong disposed of a down in the dumps Bulldogs which will have coach Eades a worried man, Hawthorn bounced back to finish off any chance Melbourne may have entertained of making the eight Adelaide eventually overcame the Brisbane Lions on their home turf with the Saints serving it up to North Melbourne.
The end result for the tipping ladders was the start of a traffic jam up top with many of our tippers taking a few chances and being well rewarded. Highlight of the round was a couple of eights tipped. Well done!
Round 21
The Round started as expected with the Pies, popular picks, accounting for the Blues who this week come up against a very much strengthened Dockers side. Saint Kilda and Hawthorn as expected, took care of business respectively against a gallant Tigers side that are showing signs of a BIG 2011 and a hapless Dockers with a bewildering selection decimated side.
Collingwood were shocked back to reality against a determined Adelaide Crows who stated the season woefully but as predicted are proving tough opponents. Now the season is all but over. Another coaching change in the air. Port repeated the dose given out to the Demons last round with a very clinical exhibition of football that would do no harm to Matthew Primuss coaching aspirations. Brisbane Lions overran a very weak Bombers outfit which, regardless of a late come back may very well just put coach Knights neck on the block. Dark days ahead at Windy Hill perhaps!
To finish the Roo boys wore down a determined Eagle side at Subiaco oval. Coach Worsfold, the favourite son may well feel the chill of the blade as it whistles down on some of his counterparts in the East.
All in all a great round to tip some winners with, as in all good competitions the result hinging on the last round of the 2010 home and away fixtures.
Best of luck and good tipping in the run to the finish as all top spots are up for grabs.
6. Open Bic Demonstration Day
To continue to develop and promote junior sailing, we need to have a recognised
junior fleet endorsed by the club. As the new Rear Commodore of Junior Sailing
Noelene Snelling has been researching the options available and has found
2 suitable classes. These are the Optimist and the Open Bic Dinghy. The Optimist
is the class more familiar to us having been used successfully for many years
as the boat of choice in a number of sail training facilities. The Open Bic
dinghy is a newer class that is fast being embraced by many sailing schools
as a more modern dinghy that better prepares junior sailors for many of the
newer planing classes that have become popular.
We will be having a demo day for the OPEN BIC on Saturday Sept 18th at 1:30pm
for a 2:00pm start, so come along and try one out. Juniors, parents of juniors,
possible future parents of juniors, and club members please support the owners
of Open Bic dinghies from Perth who have agreed to give up their time for
us. Provided you are 90kg or under the boat will float.
